MEET SP
Rua Alves Guimarães, Pinheiros, São Paulo, Brasil
Mixing uses on a single plot proves to be one of the most effective public-spirited design gestures for improving the functionality, accessibility, and safety of the surrounding area. Meet, a project that combines a commercial block with a residential one through a central plaza, adopts this concept to establish itself in the Pinheiros neighborhood, in the western zone of São Paulo.
The heights of the two blocks do not differ too much in the landscape, despite the sloping lot.
The uphill terrain accommodated the residential building on the higher part, with its options for studio-type units and one- and two-bedroom apartments. The façade features materials that follow a warm palette, with colors close to terracotta, corten, and brown.
The commercial building, on the other hand, received floor-to-ceiling frames with reflective glass and the addition of awnings and brise-soleils to enhance the project’s energy efficiency. There, it is possible to find units with areas ranging from 69 m² to 130 m², some with double-height ceilings and the possibility of combining two or more units.
The central plaza, which welcomes visitors and residents, is a pleasant social space with landscaping designed in collaboration with the project team, who transformed the planters into urban furniture. Small reflecting ponds contribute to the thermal balance of the space and guide visitors through the pleasant plaza.
