Brascan Century Plaza
Rua Joaquim Floriano 466, Itaim Bibi, São Paulo, Brasil
The Brascan Century Plaza Complex is one of the most complete and innovative mixed-use projects developed in São Paulo in recent decades. It brings together buildings with diverse functions around a generous plaza in the densely verticalized Itaim-Bibi neighbourhood. With no fences or gates, it creates open paths through the block, offering shops, outdoor restaurants, six movie theatres, and spaces for relaxation and contemplation in an area of the city that lacks plazas and green spaces.
With a built area of 93,920 m², the complex includes the Brascan Century Staybridge Suites, a 31-story flat tower with 356 units; the Brascan Century Offices, with 24 floors and 364 office units; and the Brascan Century Corporate, with 15 floors and 710 m² floor plates.
One hundred native trees—such as pau-brasil, sibipiruna, and pau-ferro—commemorate Brascan’s centennial in Brazil and provide shade along a stream that cuts diagonally through the site, linking three streets and creating a high-quality public space. Strategically placed benches offer rest stops along the way, encouraging social interaction and enjoyment of the area.
The elevated ground floor improves drainage and allows for the creation of raised gardens, striking a balance between aesthetics and functionality. Landscaping by Benedito Abbud and sculptures by Elisa Bracher enhance the design, creating an environment where nature, art, and urban life harmoniously coexist.
