The Colinas Medical Centre, located in São José dos Campos, integrates a hospital program into a commercial complex, connecting the environments through internal courtyards that promote natural ventilation and lighting.
The repetition of courtyards between blocks creates strategic voids, offering breathing space and new sightlines between the hospital and retail areas.
Prioritizing thermal comfort and energy efficiency, the project incorporates architectural solutions such as sunshades (brise-soleils) to ensure environmental comfort for patients and visitors.
The development of the hospital centre also involved bioclimatic studies, which allowed for maintaining the building’s internal temperature at an average of 25°C, thereby reducing the need for air conditioning.
Enveloped by a glass skin with horizontal and vertical sunshades, the project’s façade provides visual unity to the complex. The addition of photovoltaic solar panels further reinforces the project’s commitment to sustainable architecture.
