Platina Axis and Platina 220 Building Featured at the 14th São Paulo Architecture Biennial

From 18 September to 19 October 2025, Königsberger Vannucchi participated in the 14th International Architecture Biennial of São Paulo (BIAsp), organised by IAB-SP, one of the country’s leading architecture and urbanism events. This edition takes place at the Oca in Ibirapuera Park. Bringing together architects and projects from around the world, the Biennial adopts the theme “Extremes”, inviting reflections on contemporary contrasts and urgencies. Within this discourse, Königsberger Vannucchi presents the Platina Axis urban project and the Platina 220 building, exemplifying how architecture can address key urban challenges: creating new centralities that integrate housing, work, and services; reducing daily commutes; and adopting construction solutions focused on energy efficiency and environmental comfort.

In the general exhibition, the Platina Axis urban project is displayed, highlighting its role in repositioning the Tatuapé neighbourhood of São Paulo as a new urban centre. The Platina 220 building, at 172 metres tall with 49 floors, combines retail, hotel accommodation, residential units, offices, and corporate floors within a single tower. This diverse programme required a precise organisation of vertical circulation, illustrated through a diagram integrated into the exhibition. Developed in partnership with Porte Engineering, the building has become a landmark of the Platina Axis and one of the tallest in the city.

In the construction section, visitors can explore a 1:2 scale prototype of the ventilated façade, developed in collaboration with VENFAQ and Portobello Group’s Portobello unit. The model demonstrates both the construction logic and the environmental benefits of the system: ceramic cladding mounted on metal supports creates an air cavity that reduces heat load by approximately 20%, decreasing the need for internal climate control and enhancing occupant comfort.

Through the presentation of the Platina Axis and Platina 220 projects, alongside the façade prototype, Königsberger Vannucchi engages the public with central aspects of its practice, including the integration of technical innovation with urban design, pursuit of energy efficiency, and creation of architecture capable of responding to contemporary urban challenges.14th International
