    Platina Axis

    Tatuapé, São Paulo, Brasil

São Paulo’s Eastern Zone is currently undergoing an urban transformation guided by the directives of the city’s Strategic Master Plan (Plano Diretor Estratégico de São Paulo – PDE), approved in 2014, Structured around urban development, the PDE aims to promote higher density in areas well served by public transport. Located in the Tatuapé neighbourhood, this transformation is most evident around the Tatuapé and Carrão metro stations, where new mixed-use developments are emerging, reflecting a model of a more integrated city.

The Platina Axis is an urban design proposal conceived by Königsberger Vannucchi in partnership with Porte Engineering Company. It seeks to integrate the developer’s projects in the area into a cohesive, high-quality urban corridor with a diversity of activities, contributing to a planned and coordinated urban transformation.

The main objective of the Platina Axis is to establish a new urban centre in São Paulo, bringing together different functions, reducing daily commuting, and stimulating local vitality through a pattern of occupation that meets multiple needs. In addition to the design concept for the axis, Königsberger Vannucchi is also responsible for three of its key projects: Platina 220, Almagah 227 and Metria 624.

Platina 220, inaugurated in 2022, stands 172 metres tall and occupies an entire block next to the Metrô Tatuapé Mall. Its floors host a wide range of programmes: shops on the ground floor, a hotel and residences on the lower levels, office suites in the middle section, and corporate floors at the top. Its volumetric composition features a light-toned prismatic block articulated with darker side volumes, which emphasise its verticality and urban presence in the form of monolith—marking this new centrality and making it recognisable from other parts of the city.

Almagah 227, designed between 2014 and 2020, occupies a plot next to Barão de Itaquí Square. Above a continuous retail base, two towers—one residential and one commercial—are linked by a suspended glazed volume.

Located at the corner of Platina and Vilela Streets, Metria 624, combines studios, corporate floors, an educational institution, and ground-floor shops. Its composition begins with a low volume that rises in height towards the corner, maintaining the logic of stacked prisms adopted in the other projects along the axis.
