Our co-founder Gianfranco Vannucchi took part in this conversation with Luis C. Onaga and Gumae Carvalho, as part of the seventh season of the Meeting Office by Office Connection Arquitetura Corporativa e Comercial.

Meeting Office promotes conversations about architecture, culture and urban responsibility, inviting professionals and students to broaden their perspective on the spaces they design and on the world they live in.

Gianfranco answered the question: How can architecture transform people’s experience, improve cities and keep up with changes in working relationships?

During the conversation, our co-founder talks about his childhood in Florence and his adolescence wandering through downtown São Paulo, contextualizing the emergence of his interest in architecture. He also mentions major references in office buildings, such as the Gustavo Capanema Palace (MEC) in Rio de Janeiro.

Finally, Gianfranco shares his vision for the near future: architecture with less boring and more enjoyable buildings, and a less monotonous urban landscape. The architect also encourages young people and students to pursue a broad cultural education as a foundation for the creativity required in a professional life in architecture.

On September 30, our Director of New Business, Fabrizio Rastelli, moderated the panel “Concrete, wood or steel: is there an ideal system?”, with Íria Doniak, president of ABCIC; Nicolaos Theodorakis, founder and CEO of Noah Tech; and José Augusto P. Cordeiro, VP of Steel Structures at ABCEM. The panel was part of the program on Industrialization, within the AsBEA-SP Seminar: “Novas formas de Construir. Um papel cada vez mais estratégico para o arquiteto” [New ways of building: an increasingly strategic role for the architect].

In his opening remarks, Fabrizio explained that the panel was designed to address not only industrialization but also the integration of the production chain, with the goal of creating better projects and buildings. “When we thought about this panel, we thought about bringing not only industrialization but also chain integration, so that we can create better projects and buildings, raising the question of what the ideal system is,” he said.

The provocation drew a direct response from Íria Doniak, for whom “there is no universally better industrialized solution; there is a solution suited to each project.” José Augusto P. Cordeiro highlighted the flexibility of steel and the importance of understanding the project’s demands from the outset, and Nicolaos Theodorakis presented Noatech’s work. In the debate led by Fabrizio, Íria noted that builders have been seeking prefabricated systems to cope with the labor shortage and recalled that housing has always been a challenge for the sector. Nicolaos and José Augusto pointed to tax reform as a factor that should boost industrialization.

Dynamic Pinheiros, an office building developed in collaboration with Lucio Properties, has been selected in the category “Office Tower of the Year”.

In this video, Carla Estrella, Technical Director at Königsberger Vannucchi, and Hugo Palazzo, Civil Engineer at RDC, discuss aspects of the industrialization of civil construction, particularly the precast façades of the Órizon and Évory Park projects, located in Jardim das Colinas, in São José dos Campos. The video raises the technical and design requirements involved in using this type of system.
